For our project we learned about reskilling with food production and shared what we learned with the community through our youtube channel, Flexedible Studies. We worked with O.U.R. Ecovillage, and our teachers and peers to learn skills that related to preparing and preserving food. We learned how to make various types of dairy products and other foods. We have created a series of 5 videos about what we’ve learned to help others learn these skills as well. We also showcased our project at a school and community event to spread the word.

Our goal was to promote using local ingredients & home preparation/preserving. This contributes to fewer “food miles”, reduced packaging and food waste as well as lower energy consumption thus reducing greenhouse gas emissions and promoting a more sustainable lifestyle.

Items we learned how to make:

  • Butter - different flavours :-)

  • Yogurt

  • Cheese

  • Fermentation (Sauerkraut, Kombucha, Kimchi)

  • Wild Foraging

Our group members are: Kathleen, James, Matthew, Zoe, Micah, Katie, Dominic, Jayda, Erin, and Astrid.

Please see our youtube channel and share with others to learn how to make these too and reduce your footprint: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCJBcHRTYH6tLBszlY8YSCIg
