Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Who is responsible for registering groups in the BC Green Games?
A: The teacher sponsor is responsible for registering groups (K-7 and 8-12) in the BC Green Games. If you’re not sure what to do, ask your students!

Q: What kinds of projects can my students do?
A:  BC Green Games wants to get an idea of ALL of the different environmental projects that are happening in British Columbia.  We know that it’s hard to capture the action so we are recommending a few different formats:
• PowerPoint – have your students take some photographs of their team in action, write some words to accompany the photos and put it together in a PowerPoint presentation.
• Video – have your students follow the progress of their project from idea generation all the way to action. Videos can be edited using many different programs, just make sure to save your finished video as a .mpeg file and you will be able to upload it to the BC Green Games

Q: What forms do I need to fill out?
A: BC Green Games is trying to be environmentally responsible so we aren’t collecting extra copies of forms. During registration and final project submission you will be typing information right onto the website. The only form that needs to be filled out is the Student Release Form – any student who might be in a project or has contributed to the creation of the project should fill out one of these forms.  As the Teacher Sponsor, you should collect and keep these forms on file at your school.

Q: Why do I need to let my administrator know that I am participating in the BC Green Games?
A: All prizes will be transferred directly to the winning schools, through their administration.

Q: Why should I enter my students in the BC Green Games?
A: BC Green Games is going to be sharing projects from all around British Columbia – by entering, their project could inspire many more kids to do actions in their schools! If you enter this contest your school also has the chance of winning project money that will ensure even more environmental actions can be done.

Q: I teach a French Immersion class. Can I submit my student’s project in French?
A: BC Green Games will accept entries in either French or English.

Q: Can my team win more than one prize?
A: Yes! If a project does a great job of meeting the project submission criteria it may win a judges prize and be an online favourite.

Q: I’m having a hard time registering my team. How can I get some help?
A: Please email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it   or call 604-443-7563 and someone will help you.

Q: When can I upload the project to the BC Green Games Gallery?
A: Project submission begins on February 1 2011. We recommend submitting your project as early as possible to avoid any technical issues.
